Game-changer: Bay Monitoring for Car Park Operators in the Private sector
Recently we hosted a Webinar looking at our new feature, Bay Monitoring and following the immense interest we received during the webinar we wanted to answer some of the most frequently asked questions.
- How long does it take to set up and how do you set the bays?
Each camera setup can vary, but we provide a step-by-step setup guide for basic consumer-grade cameras that will assist you.
- Will we be able to use this for EV bays? Can it detect if an EV is charging?
Currently, we can determine if an EV vehicle is parked within an EV bay. We are actively working on functionality to detect whether the vehicle is actively charging. The future development of Bay Monitoring offers endless possibilities in this regard.
- Can we add extra reads of the bay as additional evidence to show the vehicle didn’t leave the bay and return?
Yes, this capability is configured during the granularity and threshold setup stage.
- Do you need mains power for the BM cameras?
Mains power is not necessarily required; it depends on the specific camera and scenario.
- Can we set custom rules? For example, exclude vehicles newer than 2020?
Custom rule setting is currently under development.
- Is this going to increase data usage costs?
Storing more images will naturally increase costs, but these costs are offset against the enhanced monitoring capabilities.
- Has this been discussed with governing bodies?
Yes, Bay Monitoring has been approved by both the BPA and the IPC. For further details, please contact them directly.
- How many bays can one camera cover?
The number of bays covered by one camera depends on the specific camera and site conditions. Please consult your Unity5 Account Manager for detailed discussions.
- Who decides which camera to use at a site?
The Unity5 team is here to assist, and your camera installers will also provide recommendations. The choice of camera depends on factors such as site type and line of sight.
- What distance will the camera cover for a no parking zone?
The coverage distance varies based on the camera type. Higher-end cameras can cover larger areas compared to basic or static cameras.
- How much will it cost?
The price aligns with our current ANPR fee. For more detailed pricing information, please speak to your unity5 Account Manager.

Car Park Operators can enhance their Zatpark system with Unity5’s Bay Monitoring
Improved Efficiency and Automation, eliminate the potential confrontation of your car park staff. Speeds up the flow of traffic, reducing congestion, creating a smoother parking experience.
Bay Monitoring allows for consumer-grade ANPR cameras enabling you to view misuse, such as overstays or re-entry attempts to avoid payment. Car Park Operators can protect themselves from revenue loss and ensure fair use of the facilities.
Real-Time Data Collection via ANPR systems provides fast access to data on vehicle occupancy, parking duration, and patterns. This data can help operators optimise space usage.
Compliance and Legal Accountability: The secure and accurate capture of data can help car park operators meet compliance standards for data privacy and local regulations. Stored footage can also be valuable evidence in case of disputes or legal issues.
Scalability and Flexibility: Bay Monitoring can enhance your ability to manage multiple parking facilities, making it a cost-effective solution for operators with a growing portfolio of car parks.
