What an incredible experience we’ve just had at the recent IPMI 2025 conference in Kentucky!
Writes Hannah Fuller, Director of Commercial Strategy & Partnerships at Unity5…
This was our inaugural trip to exhibit in the US market, and despite a slight detour (more on our unexpected Chicago adventure later!), we’ve returned to the UK energised and incredibly optimistic about the opportunities ahead.
The IPMI (International Parking & Mobility Institute) conference is renowned as one of the premier events in the global parking and mobility sector, bringing together thousands of professionals and showcasing the latest innovations. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the conference, from the insightful sessions to the vibrant exhibition floor as well as the plentiful ‘cocktail hours’ hosted by fellow exhibitors. The conversations we had with industry leaders, customers and potential partners were invaluable and Louisville didn’t disappoint on location, with much of the conference highlighting the Derby, the Bourbon and the BBQ in equal measures.

Key Takeaways
The most significant takeaway from our time in Kentucky was a strong validation of our core strengths and how perfectly they align with the needs of the US parking landscape. We consistently heard how critical the following aspects are, and it truly reinforced that we’re well positioned in this market:
Platform Configurability is King
The US market, with its diverse regulations, operational scales, and unique local requirements, demands highly adaptable solutions. Our unwavering focus on platform configurability means we can tailor our offerings to specific needs without extensive custom coding, empowering operators to define and implement their precise workflows. This flexibility is a game-changer for efficiency and future adaptability.
Data, Data, Data
The appetite for actionable data to drive smarter decisions is immense. From optimizing pricing strategies and improving customer service to enhancing operational efficiency and forecasting future demand, real-time data and robust analytics are sought after. Our emphasis on collecting, processing, and leveraging comprehensive parking data resonated deeply, as it provides the insights necessary for maximising revenue and improving user experience.
Seamless Integration with the mobility ecosystem
A key concern for US operators is how new technology integrates with their existing infrastructure and preferred suppliers. We were thrilled to discover that our current expertise in integrating with the broader parking and mobility ecosystem – including various camera systems, established park systems, leading payment providers, and innovative on-demand parking solutions – positions us exceptionally well. This interoperability minimises disruption and ensures a smooth transition for businesses looking to modernise their parking operations.

Sightseeing in Chicago!
Of course, no journey is without its minor hiccups. An unexpected overnight delay in Chicago on our way back to the UK was initially a slight frustration, but we decided to make the most of it, embracing the chance to explore a new city, see the skyline from Chicago 360, and enjoy some authentic deep-dish pizza. It served as a good reminder that even when plans go awry, there’s always an opportunity to learn and adapt – a philosophy we apply to our solutions as well.

A truly memorable experience at IPMI 2025
Overall, our first IPMI conference in the US was a resounding success. We’re more confident than ever that our commitment to configurable platforms, data-driven insights, and seamless integration makes us an ideal partner for the dynamic and evolving US parking market. We look forward to building on these connections and contributing to the future of parking mobility in the United States!
